A Sicilian sings an Irish song
Under the string lights at a wedding reception, Papa John, a full-blooded Sicilian, took the microphone to tell a story from sixty years ago. To join his late wife's family, her grandfather made him learn an Irish song.
Then he sang it: MacNamara's Band, a cappella, with the guests clapping along. When he finished, the whole room rose for a standing ovation.
His grandsons, he joked, would give him a sitting ovation.
